Data Transformer

BACnet to MQTT

The other direction from Modbus to BACnet: the gateway reads objects and properties from BACnet/IP devices, analog-input:1.present-value, and publishes them to a broker. Design it in the editor, validate it, build the package and run it.

Implemented, not yet proven on hardware. The BACnet/IP client deploys and runs in this release of the Edge Runtime. It has been tested against a simulated device, not yet against a real controller, so treat the first commissioning as the verification.
Architecture

Typical use case

Chillers, air handlers and meters on a BACnet network whose values should reach an energy or analytics platform over MQTT, without a change to the BMS.

The BACnet/IP client deploys and runs in this release of the Edge Runtime. It has been tested against a simulated device, not yet against a real controller, so treat the first commissioning as the verification.

Configuration approach

Objects and properties

analog-input:1, binary-value:3.present-value: object type, instance and, when it is not the present value, the property.

Read-only

The gateway reads; it never writes to the BMS.

Quality travels with the value

An object that stops being readable is published as such, never as a repeat of the last good number.

Build a BACnet to MQTT gateway

Create a project, define the device and its tags in the Edge Logic Editor, and download a runtime to test at the plant.
