Omron FINS to MQTT

Omron controllers over FINS on UDP, TCP or a serial line: CIO, DM, WR, HR and AR memory areas, addressed D100 or CIO10. Design it in the editor, validate it, build the package and run it.

Implemented, not yet proven on hardware. The FINS driver deploys and runs in this release of the Edge Runtime. It has been tested against a simulated controller, not yet against a real one, so treat the first commissioning as the verification.
Architecture

Typical use case

A packaging line on Omron controllers reporting to a broker or a database, with the PLC program untouched.

The FINS driver deploys and runs in this release of the Edge Runtime. It has been tested against a simulated controller, not yet against a real one, so treat the first commissioning as the verification.

Configuration approach

Memory areas

D100, CIO10, W20, H5, A100: the area and the word, with the data type deciding the width.

UDP, TCP or serial

FINS/UDP is the common choice on Ethernet; FINS/TCP where the network needs it; Host Link is a separate source node for serial-only CPUs.

Quality travels with the value

A tag that stops being readable is published as such, never as a repeat of the last good number.

Build a Omron FINS to MQTT gateway

Create a project, define the device and its tags in the Edge Logic Editor, and download a runtime to test at the plant.
